We are looking for a committed
individual to join the Law Enforcement Division of the Customs and Immigration
Service. The Service is currently in the process of migrating to become the
Guernsey Border Agency (GBA). The role will involve uniformed detection work at
all ports of entry, operational targeting (including surveillance and
preparation of court files), financial and intelligence investigation work, in
order to deliver the aims of the Service. The Division is also responsible for
legal compliance, professional standards and various support and training
activities across the Service. Due to the nature of the post, shortlisted candidates will be required to submit to an Enhanced Security Clearance procedure in accordance with the Home Department staff vetting policy and will be required to take part in an assessment centre. Applicants must be self motivated and well organised whilst demonstrating a high level of integrity. They must also have the ability to develop investigation and detection skills and gain an in-depth knowledge of legislation and codes of practice relevant to the Service. Good communication, team working and analytical skills are essential. A valid driving licence, ability to work in confined spaces, a good level of physical fitness and the ability to swim are also required. The successful candidate's working pattern will be based on a 36 hour week. However they will also need to be able to work flexibly, undertake shift work, standby and callout duties and work additional hours as may be required. Various allowance packages are paid, in addition to the basic salary, to compensate for these unsocial and other working arrangements. |
